Thought Leadership

Today, cancer care has evolved by leaps and bounds but we have not gotten rid of the negative cancer terminology like palliative care, terminal disease, or Stage IV. Why can't we treat cancer like any other chronic disease? A diabetes patient is never told he is a victim of diabetes, or he is being given palliative care.

A Mesmerizing Evening: Dr. Aagnika Ajaikumar’s Nritya Samarpane Captivates Mysuru

Mysuru, 20th July 2024: Dr. Aagnika Ajaikumar, a distinguished disciple of Vidwan Sridhar Jain from Sri Nimishambha School of Dance, captivated the audience with her exceptional Nritya Samarpane performance at Jaganmohan Palace on Saturday 20th july 2024. The event, graced by H.H Dr. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar as the chief guest, featured a unique interpretation of Ardhanarishwaram that left the packed hall spellbound.

Dr. Aagnika, the talented daughter of Bhagya Ajaikumar and Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar, has masterfully balanced her dual passions for medicine and dance. Her journey began at the tender age of three and a half when she, along with her twin sister, enrolled under the tutelage of Guru Vidwan Sridhar Jain. Demonstrating remarkable talent, she became the youngest dancer to perform her Rangapravesha at the age of nine, a milestone achieved at Jaganmohan Palace in 2010.

Her performance on Saturday was a testament to her dedication and skill. The audience, including dignitaries such as renowned violinist Mysore Nagaraj and Vidushi Anuradha Shridhar, was enthralled by her graceful movements and emotive expressions. Dr. Aagnika’s ability to convey the essence of Bharatanatyam through intricate dance sequences and powerful storytelling was truly remarkable.

As a student of M. S. Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, Dr. Aagnika has not only excelled in her final year of MBBS but also pursued her Post Vidwat in Bharatanatyam with unwavering commitment. Her mentor, Guru Vidwan Sridhar Jain, has played a pivotal role in shaping her journey, instilling in her the discipline and artistry required to excel in this classical dance form.

The performance was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Aagnika’s parents, both accomplished in their respective fields. Her mother, Bhagya Ajaikumar, holds a Master’s in Fine Arts from the School of Art Institute of Chicago and serves as a faculty member at the Department of Visual Arts, Bangalore University. She is also the President of Art Park Bengaluru and the Founder & Director of Swasti Contemporary Art Gallery at HCG, Bengaluru. Dr. B. S. Ajaikumar, a visionary Medical and Radiation Oncologist, is the Founder & Executive Chairman of Health Care Global Enterprises Ltd (HCG), India’s largest network of cancer care. His dedication to medical excellence and philanthropy, particularly through the International Human Development & Upliftment Academy (IHDUA), has made a significant impact on women’s empowerment and rural education.

Looking ahead, Dr. Aagnika is set to perform at Kuvempu Rangamandira in Shimoga on July 27 and at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall in Bengaluru on August 4. Her aspiration to continue excelling in both dance and the medical field is a testament to her passion and determination.

The event at Jaganmohan Palace not only celebrated her artistic achievements but also highlighted the profound bond between a guru and his disciple. As the evening concluded, the audience left with a deep appreciation for Dr. Aagnika’s extraordinary talent and her commitment to preserving and promoting the rich tradition of Bharatanatyam.
